Welcome to Crusader Football
First, I would like to introduce myself. My name is George LePorte, and I am going into my second year as the varsity football head coach. Before taking the head job, I was the associate head coach from 2008-2009, the middle school head coach (2007)/offensive coordinator, the MS defensive coordinator in 2006, and I spent time as a varsity assistant coach as well. My coaching staff includes Matt VanPraag (3rd year Offensive Coordinator, QB in 2000), Chris LePorte (2nd year Defensive Coordinator, Won the district title with Sheridan Hills, coached at CSCA from 2003-2007 as well), Andy Holz (Played QB for Norwich, and CSCA from 2002-2005), Mike Kimbrough (Played OL for Parkway), Paul Boutin (2nd year), Monte Gonzalez (MS head coach, also offensive coordinator in 2008), and Mark Chandler (MS assistant). As you can see, we try to keep the majority of our coaches from the Crusader football family. Your Crusader football team is coming off of our best season in four years, 6-4. In the 2010 campaign, our offense led all of Broward County (1B-6A) in rushing up until the ninth week of the season. Our leading rusher from last year, Tigana Eccleston, is going to Louisberg Junior College to play football next year. The program itself has been around since 1998. Crusader football strives to teach not only the great game, but also how to take situations that we are put in every day on the field into life lessons for after the lights turn off for the last time. We play all but one of our home games at Mullins Park this year. This is a great facility with an awesome turf field that we are blessed to be able to use. As a program grows, so does the tradition of that program. Our biggest game of the year is against our rival, Highlands Christian Academy. Each year, the two teams duke it out under the lights for the right to hoist “The Sword” after the game. I have been able to be a part of two of these games as a player, and five as a coach. We are always striving to play our best, but anyone who has been to one of these games, knows that the intensity is stepped up a notch from the fans to the players. This year we are going into a newly reconfigured district that should make for some very exciting football all year long. Please come out and support YOUR Crusader Football team.
