VARSITY FOOTBALL GAME VS BOCA CHRISTIAN ON 9/10 IS CANCELLED

2010 Football Schedule (Revised 9/8/10)

BARRINGTON RUNS AWAY WITH WIN
September 3, 2010 The Crusaders started strong against District 8-1B favorite Barrington Christian, striking first on a 31 yard touchdown pass from David Imber to Jon Gesin. The Crusader offense controlled the ball all game by running 42 plays and racking up 18 first downs. With a young offensive line, debuting freshman starters Nick Rivera and Austin Fitzgerald, the Crusaders were still able to move the ball. Sophomore tackle Connor Lamba played the bulk of the game in place of junior Austin Sullivan (out with a broken hand injury early in the first quarter). Jake Sofianos (4.9yds/carry) and Charles Pommels (3.8yds/carry) led the rushing attack with a combined 131 yards rushing. On defense, the Crusaders struggled to slow down Barrington's big play running game. The Crusader pass defense was much better, as they held Barrington to one completion from scrimmage for 8 yards. Free Safety, Taylor Fallin ignited the Crusader defense with a late 2nd quarter interception. A major turning point in the game came shortly after the interception when the Crusaders gave the ball back to Barrington's potent offense. The score was 14-6 with 13 seconds left in the first half when the Falcons broke a 96 yard touchdown run. Despite an onslaught of player injuries, the entire Crusader team played hard all game, proving capable to compete with the best teams in 1-B football. The Crusaders will look to revamp and heal up in time for next Friday's game at Boca Christian.
