Football Game Recap - vs. South Florida Heat 11/10/11
CRUSADERS FINISH OFF THE SEASON RIGHT: CSCA-46 SFH-14
It was Senior night, and the Crusaders were determined to finish off the season right. From the start, it was evident that the HEAT could not quite keep up with the Crusader offense. Charles Pommels and Isaac Wolf did their regular damage, going for 140 and 124 yards respectively and a touchdown each. Fourteen different Crusaders ran the ball on offense, and they all contributed, as well as the offensive line, in gaining 400 yards of total offense. Seven different Crusaders crossed the goal line, including 4 offensive linemen. The first quarter had the Crusaders score three touchdowns: Senior Kevin Ramos on a 2 yard rush, Sophomore Austin Fitzgerald on a 15 yard pass from Senior Mike Martin, and Senior Brandon Roberts on a 1 yard rush. The stingy Crusader defense shut out the HEAT in the first quarter. Pommels scored on a 78 yard rush to start the second quarter, but the HEAT answered back late with a 30 yard Kerr pass to Senior Caleb Jacobsen (a former Crusader). Senior TJ Littlejohn shortened the celebration as he bullied his way up the middle to block the PAT. The Crusaders went into the halftime Senior celebration up 27-6. During halftime, the senior cheerleaders, cross country runner, and the twelve football seniors were honored: TJ Littlejohn, Charles Pommels, Jeremy Varsallone, Brandon Roberts, Kevin Ramos, Austin Sullivan, David Arce, Mike Martin, Jameson Kelliher, Greg Pelicier, Stanley Durbin, and Izzy Rigaud. In the second half, the Crusaders showed no signs of slowing down. Junior Isaac Wolf started off the scoring with a 12 yard rush that was followed up by Littlejohn punching in a 12 yard rush after a long drive. The HEAT finished the scoring in the third quarter with a pass from Kerr to Stevenson, and added another pass from the pair to convert the 2-pt conversion. The 2011 season would be capped off with a 1 yard rush by Senior David Arce. It was a season of ups and downs, but this group of young men never quit. They should be proud of themselves for representing the Crusader spirit with class, courage, and heart. Keep your head up Crusaders, you will always be a part of the Band of Brothers!
