Crusader Track Goes to States

At the State Meet in Winter Park on April 30, Sharonda Jones led the girls by placing second at state in the Shot Put and 8th in the discus.  Tara Fallin placed 12th in the 100 meter hurdles and Blaire Teeters placed 14th in the pole vault and 300 hurdles.  Delise Williams placed 11th in the Long Jump.

 Logan Van Houtteghem of Coral Springs Christian soars over 14 feet 6 inches on his final try in the pole vault. That equaled the winning height, but he ended up fourth when misses were figured in. (Craig Davis, Sun Sentinel)  

     For the boys, Logan VanHoutteghem placed 4th in the Pole Vault, Dean Williams placed 5th in the 400 meters, and the 4x400 meter relay team of Dean Williams, Kyle Lindbergh, Nehemiah Thompson and Charles Pommels placed 7th. The boys 4x800 team, Teron Ferguson in the Triple Jump and Kyle Lindbergh in the shot all placed 9th. Nehemiah Thompson placed 10th in both hurdle races. The boys placed 16th as a team out of 52 teams that scored in the meet.

Historical Track Meet!  Crusader Boys Win Regionals!

The boys track team had a historic meet on Thursday night April 22nd as the boys won the school’s first ever Regional Championship not just for track, but for any sport in the history of CSCA!!  The boys won with 85 points against rivals Upperroom Christian with 79, Kings Academy 74 and Dade Christian 68. There are 30 schools in the region that extends from Vero Beach to Marathon in the Keys.  There were 13 boys that scored in the meet as we only got one first place in the pole vault with Logan VanHoutteghem vaulting 14’0”.  The boys 4x800 (Kyle Lindbergh, Kent Lindbergh, Kevin Cardone and Charles Pommels) and Teron Ferguson in the Triple Jump placed second. Nehemiah Thompson in both hurdle races and the 4x400 relay (Kyle, Nehemiah, Charles and Dean Williams) placed 3rd.  Kyle (shot put), Kent (800), Dean (400), Nehemiah (Long Jump), and Kevin (3200) all placed 4th in their events.  The top four in each event qualify for State this Friday at Winter Park.  Also scoring valuable points at the region were Josh Cole, Seth Gesin, Johnny Lipham, Taylor Fallin and Benji Fillius.  The girls also had a wonderful meet, placing 5th with 57 points. Sharonda Jones won the Shot Put and got 2nd in the Discus.  Blaire Teeters (Pole Vault and 300 Hurdles) Tara Fallin (100 Hurdles) and DeLise Williams (Long Jump) all qualified for state. Nicole Dibben and Tanya Sullivan also scored points for the girls.
